Betty sponsored the Texas Voter ID bill which would require photo identification from everyone who wants to vote in Texas. In the last legislative session, Betty was a joint author or cosponsor of every bill filed to deal with 1.75 million illegal aliens in Texas including legislation that would place an 8% tax on the $5.8 billion in funds wired by illegal aliens from Texas to Mexico. The recaptured funds were to be used to help hospitals forced by the federal government, to provide free health care to illegal aliens. Betty also co-sponsored bills to repeal instate tuition for illegal alien college students and penalize employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens.
Betty has a strong record against lawsuit abuse and has courageously stood up to personal injury trial lawyers who want to expand the lawsuit industry in Texas.
Betty Brown’s Priorities
"I want all the children of Texas to have the opportunity to gain a quality education in a safe environment. I want our children to inherit a Texas where business is free from unnecessary government interference and those who are willing to work hard will have the opportunity to succeed. Like my neighbors in Henderson and Kaufman Counties, I believe we must help those who are truly in need while encouraging self-reliance and independence."
Betty is a Kaufman County native. She and her husband Ron own and operate a ranch near Terrell on land that has been in her family for four generations. They have three children and seven grandchildren. A graduate of Terrell High School, Betty attended SMU in Dallas.
